iPhone Application Numbers Leaves Windows Mobile In The Dust

Microsoft is in deep hot water after the Apple iPhone unsurprisingly top Windows Mobile in an important category, yet again, Windows Mobile is playing catch the leader.

It has been reported that iPhone applications has surpassed Windows Mobile applications when it comes to numbers, the amount of iPhone applications making waves at the moment is over 25000 and counting. Windows Mobile has been on the scene for over 9yrs, you would have expected the platform to have far greater numbers than 20000, it will be very interesting to see how Steve Ballmer would react towards this.

With Nokia, Palm, and RIM all readying their own application store, Microsoft has many reason to worry, especially with the Android Market already taking in priced applications. Microsoft's own application store along with Windows Mobile 7 is needed sooner rather than later.
